So here it goes, our four shows for 2016 are as follows…
The Musical (6th–9th April) The Mikado By Gilbert & Sullivan
Our first ever G&S!! The Mikado is a continually popular hit with audiences, and is to be performed professionally by the National Opera once again later this year. The combination of Gilbert’s virtuosic wit, Sullivan’s memorable melodies and some classic Revellers antics will make this an irresistible treat for our audiences.
The Summer Show (7th-11th June) Father Ted Arranged by David and Lucy Wild
The Resurrection!! After last year’s unfortunate cancellation we cant wait to finally bring this fantastic show to the stage. Revellers are finally off to Craggy Island in June next year as we bring much-loved sitcom Father Ted to the stage. The sitcom gave us some of the best comedy characters ever – the well-intentioned but occasionally amoral priest, Father Ted; his impossibly dense sidekick and priest-in-training, Dougal; the constant pestering of his house maid, Mrs Doyle; and the verbally abusive alcoholic, Father Jack. Throw into the mix an explosive Bishop whose only goal is to be finally rid of the whole bunch and you have a perfect comedy mix!
The Play (6th-10th Sept 2016) Dangerous Liaisons (Les Liaisons Dangereuses) By Christopher Hampton
In 1782, Choderlos de Laclos’ novel of sex, intrigue and betrayal in pre-revolutionary France scandalised the world. Two hundred years later, Christopher Hampton’s irresistible adaptation swept the board, winning the Olivier and Evening Standard Awards for Best Play. Dark, funny and sexy this is a classic play – not to be missed! We think tickets will sell well so we are going to put on an extra performance by opening on the Tuesday.
The Pantomime (29th Nov – 3rd Dec 2016) Jack and the Beanstalk
The classic pantomime with all your old favourites. Jack lives with his mother and having fallen on hard times they decide to sell their prize cow. On his way to market Jack meets a mysterious stranger who gives him five magic beans for the animal. His furious mother throws the beans out of the window and overnight…well you know the rest!
