Stone Revellers - History
A short history of the society
Stone Revellers was formed in 1978 after a number of people had got together to perform a Variety show for the Stone Festival

A very short history indeed!!

I haven't been able to persuade someone to write a history of the Revellers, but I have found some pictures from the early days of the society. These pictures show some of the original members of the society in some of the early shows and regular events.

This is from Cinderella which was performed in February 1980.
It shows the two ugly sisters played by Mike Cullen and Peter Evans.

The early shows were always performed in Alleyne's school theatre and we used the classromss as changing rooms. This limited performances to the school holiday periods.

The next picture features a current member of the society, but when they were much younger.
Who is this turning their back on the camera?

And now a picture from the variety show that revellers did for Stone Festival in June 1980.
These are the Revelettes, Lynda-Jane, Carolyn and Sheila

A regular feature of Revellers in the early years were Family picnics.
These were often held at Oakamoor and were a chance for members families to get together
This was picture was taken in 1980.
I think the man just to the right of the man with no shirt on is our musical director

Another regular feature were the annual barbecue, held at Mike Cullen's house
Recognise anyone in this chorus line?
